Another piece of potential evidence has surfaced claiming special needs children in Darien Schools are not being given a proper education under the law.
Unanswered questions continue to hover around a controversial memo being used as evidence in a complaint filed with the state, claiming that Darien Schools are violating special education law.
“It’s a nightmare.”
These words come from a special education professional with close knowledge of what’s happening with special education in Darien’s public school system.
Ask and you shall receive.
Except when it comes to getting information about special education program changes in Darien, according to at least 18 parents who filed a complaint against the district with the state Department of Education, urging an unprecedented halt of state and federal money to the public schools because of “the extent of wrongdoing and violations of the rights of students with disabilities.”
Middlesex Middle School has a thing for Darién. The tiny Panamanian province has received more than $30,000 in aid for school improvements in Nicanor, Darién, thanks to donations by the Darien to Darién program. To keep the giving ball rolling, Middlesex will host Variety Show 5 on Thursday, May 5, to raise money for the Pueblo Nuevo School of Darién. Continue reading
